Rosemead Launches On-Demand Microtransit: Introducing Rosemead GO & Rosemead GO Plus
Rosemead, CA - In an exciting move toward modernizing local transit, the City of Rosemead officially debuted Rosemead GO, a convenient, affordable, and environmentally friendly microtransit service that replaces the longstanding fixed-route Rosemead Explorer shuttle and Dial-A-Ride. Designed to meet the needs of today’s residents, this on-demand system improves mobility across the city (https://www.cityofrosemead.org/government/city_departments/public_works/RosemeadGO).
What Is Rosemead GO?
Rosemead GO is a shared-ride, corner-to-corner service that operates seven days a week, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and covers the entire city limits. The all–electric fleet dynamically matches riders with similar travel routes, reducing wait times and lowering the carbon footprint. Rosemead GO also aims to solve the “First and Last Mile Challenge” by connecting riders to and from regional transportation systems and bridging the gap between where people are and where traditional public transportation starts or ends.
Highlights:
Eligibility: Open to all Rosemead residents and visitors.
Fare: Just $1 per ride—and the first 10 rides are free through October.
How it works: Request a ride via the Rosemead GO app (available in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Vietnamese) or by calling (626) 572-4099.
Rosemead GO Plus: Serving Seniors & Riders with Disabilities
For seniors (55+) and permanently disabled individuals, Rosemead GO Plus adds extra flexibility and access:
Service type: Curb-to-curb — rides start right at the doorsteps.
Extended coverage: Service within city limits and up to 5 miles outside for key destinations.
Fare: Reduced to $0.50 per ride.
Booking: Available both on-demand and pre-booked (up to 7 days ahead via the app or phone).
Accessibility: Wheelchair–accessible vehicles are included.
To enroll, seniors and eligible riders complete an application available online or at City Hall; proof of residence, age, or disability is required.
Why Microtransit?
Microtransit offers flexibility and efficiency that traditional fixed-route shuttles lack. The platform uses smart routing, grouping passengers headed in the same direction and sending them to nearby “virtual bus stops.” The result: shorter wait times, smoother rides, and better resource utilization.
By adopting an all-electric fleet, the City not only enhances service but also boosts environmental goals—helping improve air quality in and around Rosemead.
How to Ride:
For Rosemead GO riders:
Download the app from the App Store or Google Play—or call (626) 572-4099.
Create an account, enter pickup/drop-off intersections, and request a ride.
Meet your driver at the nearest corner or “virtual stop.”
For Rosemead GO Plus riders:
Apply online or in-person for eligibility.
Once approved, activate your account and either pre-book (via app/phone) or request an on-demand ride.
Be picked up directly at your curb.
No smartphone? No problem—both services can be booked via phone, and accessible vehicles can be requested when calling.
Future Benefits & City Commitment
Rosemead GO is more than just transit—it represents a step toward smarter cities, better air, and hands-on civic technology. It’s part of Rosemead’s strategy to modernize public services, reduce congestion, and serve residents equitably. By introducing these innovative services, Rosemead is setting a compelling example of how cities can leverage technology-driven transit to boost accessibility, reduce emissions, and enrich community life.
